This facilitated game session is a free session that we offered to schools purchasing 5 units of the board game during a workshop with secondary school teachers teaching Prinsip Akaun on 19 Oct 2024.

We managed to try the new cash flow form to enable students familiarise themselves with the game before using a more serious recording-based form. 15 minutes of playing while utilising the form seemed good enough to give students the idea on how the game should be played. In the second round of the play session, students were required to record business transactions using accounting equation form. At the end of the second round, not only do they need to complete the equation and ensure it balances, but they are also required to draft the unadjusted trial balance, do some adjustments, and draft the adjusted trial balance after.

For adjustment purposes, we disabled the prepayment cards and included it as part of the required adjustments. Students were so focused on having the equation balanced as well as ensuring having a balanced adjusted trial balance that some even refused to leave. They were intrigued by the challenge. The session with this group of students gave us confidence that the game can be used for every step of the bookkeeping and teachers could manipulate the game session to fit the objective of the session.

This game session is also the first game session for our latest member, Salman Uraiddie. We let him play together with the students to enable him to use the experience to explain about the game to other users and potential customers later. It will be an opportunity for him to also learn on how to conduct similar sessions in the future.

During this session, we also witnessed how Cikgu Zuriana, our ‘graduate’ from the PSM Simpankira workshop, managed the game session. She definitely made us proud.

All in all, it was a fascinating experience. We have learnt and validated new approaches to the game once more.
